What happens when a promising bio-based solution needs to be turned into a process that can be tested, optimised and scaled? Find out on Food & Bio Cluster Denmark’s Innovation Tour to Southern Sweden on 10-11 November. Here are three good reasons to join the tour.

Biomanufacturing is about more than fermentation. It also involves the processes before and after it, and the transition from development to a process that works in practice.

On the Innovation Tour, participants will get an inside look at facilities and expertise working with these challenges.

1. See how processes are tested in practice

One of the tour’s stops is Tetra Pak in Lund. Much more than its well-known packaging solutions, the company works with the processes involved in bringing products from development to production.

These include fermentation, heating, UHT treatment, pasteurisation, filtration and mixing. Participants will have the opportunity to visit pilot plants and test centres where tests of new processes are done together with customers.

This offers an insight into practical questions that arise when a process or product is taken further. How does the process affect the properties of the product? How can the desired functionality be maintained? And how can challenges such as sedimentation be addressed?

2. Gain new perspectives on the journey from development to production

The tour is relevant to companies and organisations working with biomanufacturing, including companies developing new bio-based products, established biosolutions companies, universities, RTOs, CMOs, and suppliers of equipment and technology.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore different parts of the value chain and meet organisations working with development, testing and pilot production while gaining insights into the technical and business challenges involved in scaling up.

Morten Ammentorp,
CEO of Nocla,
is joining the tour:

For companies developing biosolutions, successful scale-up depends on continuously identifying the right technologies, partners, and capabilities for the next stage of growth. I am joining the delegation to gain insights into the Swedish foodtech ecosystem, explore collaboration opportunities, and learn from leading Nordic innovators. Visits to organisations such as Tetra Pak provide valuable perspectives on how world-class companies turn innovation into scalable industrial solutions.

3. Be part of the dialogue on cross-border collaboration

Southern Sweden and Denmark both have strong ecosystems within biosolutions and biomanufacturing. Yet collaboration across the Øresund does not necessarily happen by itself. One reason is that funding opportunities for joint activities can be limited.

This is one of the issues that will be explored during the tour.

Rather than presenting a ready-made solution, the programme will create space for a joint discussion about how Danish and Swedish organisations can collaborate within the existing framework.

Participants will have the opportunity to share experiences and discuss how international projects, parallel collaborations and other initiatives can bring organisations on both sides of the Øresund closer together.

For some, the tour may be an opportunity to gain new professional inspiration. For others, it could be the starting point for new relationships and collaborations.

The Innovation Tour takes place on 10-11 November 2026 and is open to anyone working with or interested in biomanufacturing and biosolutions, from both a technical and business perspective.
