Yes. Participation in the BIONetZero kick-off event is a mandatory part of the programme and a prerequisite for receiving the Travel Grant.

Registration is a two-step process. First, complete the registration form using the link provided in your invitation email. You will then receive a payment link. Please note that your registration is only confirmed once payment for the kick-off event has been received.

Each participating SME will be assigned a BIONetZero mentor from one of the BIONetZero cluster organisations. Your mentor will support your company throughout the programme and provide guidance on opportunities, project development and available support services.

Following the kick-off phase, some selected participants will be invited to continue to Stage 2 of the BIONetZero programme. The decision is made in dialogue with the BIONetZero mentors and external evaluators, based on the company’s progress, commitment and potential. Participants continuing in the programme may proceed to Stage 2 and/or Stage 3 according to the plan agreed with the BIONetZero mentor.

Funding can support activities such as testing and validation, prototype development, feasibility studies, business model refinement, regulatory alignment, commercialisation preparation, investor readiness, international matchmaking activities and other actions that contribute to the development and market readiness of your biosolution.

Examples of eligible expenses may include:

• Personnel costs (e.g. salaries and hourly rates)
• Laboratory testing and validation activities
• Materials, consumables and prototype components
• External consultancy and technical expertise
• Certification, regulatory and IP-related services

Yes. All BIONetZero grants require a minimum 25% co-financing contribution from the participating company. Additional guidance on eligible costs and co-financing requirements can be found in the BIONetZero Handbook for SMEs.

Grant payments are based on reimbursement of eligible actual costs. Beneficiaries must provide supporting documentation, including invoices, receipts and proof of payment, as part of the reporting and payment process.
