Spotlight on the Plastics Industry: Perspectives on Biotech-Based Materials
This masterclass will shine a light on the plastics industry’s perspectives and experiences with the use of plastic materials produced through biotechnology. While political support and funding for biosolutions are growing rapidly nationally and in the EU, industry experiences and attitudes remain underexplored. But what are the views and experiences within the established plastics industry?
Join us for this focused masterclass under the EU project B-Trust, where we examine barriers to and trust in new bio-based materials across the value chain. We'll explore industry perspectives on integrating biotech-based solutions, touching on market demands, cost-effectiveness, technological readiness, regulation, and value chain collaboration.
Let’s discuss how the plastics industry can help shape sustainable solutions that meet both customer and consumer needs.

About B-Trust
Food & Bio Cluster Denmark is a partner in the EU-funded B-Trust Project in which we offer you a series of masterclasses.
"The effective application of biotechnology in agri-food and biobased sectors – think of microbial protein, cultivated meat, production of milk components using micro-organisms, biodegradable plastics, …- plays a crucial role in building a sustainable European future. B-Trust wants to contribute to the valorisation and implementation of these groundbreaking technologies by focusing on building consumer trust and broader stakeholder acceptance. Tackling trust related hurdles is as critical as addressing technological, economic and regulatory challenges, in view of delivering impact at scale with these biotech solutions." – Flanders’ FOOD, Project Coordinator
